Independence Sponsor: Housing Partners of Tulsa Information: Housing Partners of Tulsa (HPT) offers a comprehensive homebuyer education program designed to assist potential homebuyers. Qualified buyers that complete the program and purchase a home in Tulsa city limits may receive up to $2,000 to use for down payment and closing costs. The 8-hour class is divided into 3 sessions. The first is a homebuyer's orientation. Topics covered include preparing for homeownership, finding the right home loan, and working with a real estate agent. Session 2 is a financial evaluation where a housing counselor assists the potential homebuyer with developing a budget, reviewing their credit report, and preparing a personalized action plan to guide them to homeownership. The third session is a homebuyer’s seminar. Potential homebuyers receive instructions on the actual purchasing process of home buying. Topics include the home loan application process, bond money programs, how to find a home and make an offer, and life as an owner.
