Zeus and Roxanne inhabit different worlds. He is a rambunctious dog who scampers on terra firma. She is a precocious dolphin who frolics beneath the waves. They speak different languages and
yet can communicate. Together, they form a unique friendship that inspires the humans with whom they share their lives and leads them all on a heartwarming adventure. Dedicated marine biologist
Mary Beth Dunhill (Quinlan) hadn't even met her new neighbor, musician Terry Barnett (Guttenberg), until his dog Zeus trampled through her garden. His canine curiosity piqued by Mary Beth's
photos from her dolphin studies, Zeus follows her and stows away aboard her research boat. At first annoyed, Mary Beth is soon elated to discover that Zeus has a remarkable rapport with Roxanne,
the captive dolphin she is determined to return to the wild. Mary Beth knows that this revelation of inter-species communication is a vital breakthrough in her work, and its value is not lost on
her unscrupulous rival, Dr. Claude Carver (Vosloo), who plots to usurp her research. The special relationship between Zeus and Roxanne ultimately sparks a romance between the marine biologist and
the musician, much to the delight of Terry's son (Hughes) and Mary Beth's daughters (Delfino and Howell). The kids would like nothing better than to blend their two families, but their parents
need a little more time to be convinced.
