Established in 1925 as the country home of oilman Frank Phillips, founder of Phillips Petroleum Company, it derives its name from the woods, lakes and rocks of the beautiful Osage Hills. Woolaroc is a 3,600 acre ranch and wildlife preserve that is open throughout the year as an educational and historical attraction. The museum houses a world class collection of western art, artifacts and special exhibits. The Lodge ranch house was the country home of Frank and Jane Phillips. The Native American Heritage Center features the "Arrows Skyward" audio-visual show. Over 700 animals including buffalo, elk, deer and longhorn cattle, graze freely in the natural surroundings. From early spring to late fall, the North Road tour features a five mile drive through some of the most beautiful portions of the facility. Also featured is the Woolaroc Nature Trail, a self-guiding, gently sloping path 1 1/2 miles long with the first 1/4 mile paved for wheelchair access. A 20 acre garden area also includes a butterfly garden, perennial, herb and annuals gardens; and a large display of spring bulbs.
Open: Wed-Sun 10am-5pm. Closed Mon-Tue and Thanksgiving and Christmas Days.
