CHL Announces Locations of 2004, 2005 All-Star Games New Mexico Scorpions 2004 CHL All-Star Hosts. 2005 CHL All-Star Game Awarded to Laredo Bucks February 13, 2003
The Central Hockey League has today announced that Albuquerque, New Mexico and Laredo, Texas have been selected as the locations for the 2004 and 2005 CHL
All-Star Games. Albuquerque is home to the New Mexico Scorpions, currently in their seventh year of play, while Laredo's Bucks are enjoying a highly successful inaugural season.
At a an afternoon
press conference today in Albuquerque, CHL President Brad Treliving and Scorpions owner W.D. Frank made the official announcement that the 2004 All-Star Game would be hosted by the Scorpions and the City of
Albuquerque. "The Central Hockey League is extremely pleased to name the New Mexico Scorpions as host franchise for the 2004 CHL All-Star Game," said Treliving. "Scorpions owner Doug Frank is a highly
respected leader within our organization, and we are confident that team management, Scorpions fans and civic officials will serve as outstanding hosts for our annual showcase event." The actual dates
of the 2004 All-Star Game and surrounding festivities will be announced this summer in conjunction with the release of the 2003-2004 CHL regular season schedule.
"We are thrilled to be hosting the
2004 Central Hockey League All-Star Game," said Frank. "The All-Star Game is the premier event in the CHL, and it is a great opportunity to spotlight the sport of hockey within the Albuquerque community and
the state of New Mexico. After witnessing the most recent All-Star games in Corpus Christi (2002) and Oklahoma City (2003), we have a high standard to uphold and as an organization we look forward to the
challenge."
Also announced today was the selection of the Laredo Bucks as hosts for the 2005 CHL All-Star Game. The Bucks are midway through their first season of play, and have experienced
outstanding success to date. Currently the Bucks are 30-12-5 in the Southeast Division and are averaging 6,700 fans per game at the new Laredo Entertainment Center. "With tremendous ownership, along with
excellent fan support and one of the finest venues in minor professional hockey, we are delighted to name the Bucks and the City of Laredo as hosts for the 2005 CHL All-Star Game," said Treliving.
The Dodge 2003 All-Star Game was held January 23rd in Oklahoma City, drawing a CHL All-Star Game record crowd of 9,834. Chris Grenville of Laredo was named the Most Valuable Player, scoring four goals for
the Southern Conference in their 10-6 win over their counterparts in the Northern Conference. |
