Oilers Win "Blood Bowl Challenge"
Tulsa Oilers Press Release February 2, 2003
The Oklahoma Blood Institute has announced that the Tulsa Oilers have won the
"Blood Bowl Challenge" with the Oklahoma City Blazers. The challenge was a contest between the Oilers and Blazers to see who could collect the most blood for the OBI. The Oilers collected 523 units of blood
to the Blazers' 123. The challenge began in late December at Woodland Hills Mall and ended last Sunday at Promenade Mall.
"This is the culmination of a month-long challenge," said Tammy Payton from
OBI . "When you couple the 523 units that Tulsa collected with the 123 in Oklahoma City, the 643 units of blood will save 1,938 lives."
OBI will present the Oilers a trophy at their game this Friday,
February 7th when they host the Fort Worth Brahmas. Invited guests on the ice during the presentation include Chuck and Tony from Z104.5 The Edge, Carly and Stan from K-HITS, and Barry Lewis from the Tulsa
World. The Oilers and OBI will recognize these guests for their support of the "Blood Bowl Challenge."
"This has been a fantastic blood drive for OBI and it has been our pleasure to support the
community and help save lives," said Susie Weinacht, Oilers' director of community relations.
Tickets for this Friday's game are available at local Drug Marts, the Tulsa Convention Center Box Office,
the Oilers office, or by phone at 584-2000. |
