Talons rebound with convincing home win, 79-35
Talon Front PicThe Tulsa Talons rebounded from a road loss last week by coming home and scoring a convincing, 79-35, against Mahoning Valley Saturday night at the BOK Center. The Thunder had the ball first and scored on 3 yard quarterback run. Mahoning Valley took an early lead 7-0. QB Justin Allgood found Anthony Bolden to tie the score. Talons Kicker Tony Dodson kicked the extra point to tie the game at 7 all. Tulsa's LaRico Stephenson caught an interception in the middle of the first quarter. The Talons came back and scored a touchdown Allgood to Hughley. That touchdown makes Jeff Hughley the #2 in receiving yards behind Mitch Allner with 3420. The extra kick was no good. Talons had the early lead of 13-7. Mahoning Valley got the ball and another interception by Carlos Campbell gave the Talons the ball on their own 25 yard line. The last play of the first quarter ended with a sac by Mahoning Valley. The Talons were unable to score and gave the ball back to Mahoning Valley on the their own 3 yard line. With 9:31 left in the 2nd, Mahoning Valley was unable to score and the Talons had the ball on their own 11 yard line. With the first posession in the 2nd quarter, the Talons scored on a throw from Allgood to Zach Edwards to make the score 20-7. That touchdown makes Allgood the 3rd QB in Talons history to reach 5000 yards.

The Thunder threw another interception caught by Jamar Ransom. That gave the Talons the ball back on Thunder 9 yard line. Next play, Jeff Hughley caught for Touchdown with a flag on the play and gave the Talons a first down. Allgood threw to Antwan Floyd to put the Talons put 27-7. The Thunder came back with a toucdown and an extra kick was good to make the score 27-14 with 4:46 left in the 2nd. Jeff Hughley returned the ball for 48 yards. With 2 flags, the Talons got the ball on the Thunder 1 yard line. The Talons got called for intentional grounding to have a 3rd down on the Thunder 18 yard. Tony Dodson's kicked was no good & Mahoning Valley has the ball on their own 10 yard line. The Thunder came back with 17 seconds left and spiked the ball & gave the Talons the ball back. Justin Allgood threw the ball to Jeff Hughley. The ball was on the Thunder 22 yard line. The Thunder caught an interception on their 1 yard line with 2 seconds left in end the half with a flag on the play to end the half. The score was 27-14.

The Talons had the ball to start the 2nd half. The Talons started the 2nd half with a strong start with an acrobatic catch by Jeff Hughley. The 2 point conversion was good to make the score 34 to 14. With 9:26 in the 3rd quarter, Jamar Ransom caught an interception return for a touchdown and 2 point conversion good to make the score 43-14.
Michael Shack and Kamau Jackson forced a fumble and Shack returned the ball for a 26 yards for another Talons touchdown. Talon's two point conversion from Allgood to Zach Edwards is good to make the score 51-14.

The Thunder strike back with a touchdown pass complete from QB Blake Powers to Quorey Payne! The extra kick from Derek Schorejs to make the score 51-21. With 26 seconds left in the 3rd, Allgood to Hughley and Landrum scored the 2 point conversion to increase the score to 59-21. The Talons interception the ball to end the 3rd quarter! QB Jimmy Welker threw for his first down to Edwards. Welker threw for his 2 point conversion to Hughley to increase the score to 67-21. Jimmy Wlker threw a touchdown to Edwards. Mahoning Valley came back with a touchdown late in the 4th quarter to make the score 73-35. Welker rushed a touchdown to increase the score to 77-35. The 2 point conversion Is good to make the score 79-35.
